Kaweah Health Welcomes Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon Dr. Ryan Dean

VISALIA, Calif. – Kaweah Health is thrilled to welcome Dr. Ryan Dean, an orthopedic trauma surgeon, to its orthopedic team of providers as he officially has joined Orthopaedic Associates Medical Clinic in Visalia. Since starting in September, Dr. Dean has already made an impact by treating trauma patients at Kaweah Health Medical Center that may otherwise have been transferred out to another facility.

Kaweah Health Medical Center is the only level III trauma center between Bakersfield and Fresno, staffed 24-hours per day with emergency medicine physicians, general surgeons, and anesthesiologists. The hospital admits more than 1,200 trauma patients each year.

Dr. Dean has a goal to create and execute the most effective and efficient care to get patients back to their normal life.

“As an orthopedic trauma surgeon, I am often meeting patients for the first time on one of their worst days,” Dr. Dean said. “I make it my priority to help them feel confident from day one that we will do everything we can to alleviate their pain and restore their function. This includes their surgical care in the acute setting as well as their ongoing recovery and rehabilitation well beyond their time in the hospital.”

Dr. Dean graduated from New York Medical College and then completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Oklahoma. He also completed the San Diego Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship through Unite Orthopaedics Foundation, a non-profit that focuses on improving orthopedic trauma care. During his fellowship year he worked traumas in three San Diego County hospitals.
