New Graduate Residency Program
The Nurse Residency Program is centered on the support and development of the professional nurse, focusing on the transition from academia to acute care practice. Our 6-month program combines practical and applied clinical experiences with comprehensive didactic learning. This support is in addition to the traditional unit/department orientation. At Kaweah Health we want our new nurses to flourish! Participants will gain many new experiences, skills, and resources to help them grow as a professional.
This program will focus on:
- Clinical decision skills
- Communications skills
- Professional development
- Exposure to the hospital
- Support of practice at the bedside - safety and time management
- Exposure to experiences within chosen service line
- Resource development
Participants will meet monthly with the Residency Program Coordinator and special expert guests from Kaweah Health for:
- Case studies
- Presentations
- Clinical simulation/skills training
- Learning through discussion and reflection on actual practice
Requires:
- California RN, RNIP or LVN
- Less than 1 year experience as a nurse
