Virtual Visitations
With our visitor restrictions related to COVID19, we’d like to support our patients and visitors by allowing “Virtual Visitations”
If a patient and their loved ones have smartphones, they can participate in video calls directly with one another.
If a patient doesn’t have a smart phone but their loved one does, a Kaweah Health ipad can be used to support video calls through FaceTime (iOS) or Duo (android).
To maintain privacy:
- When possible, close the door to the patient room during video calls.
- Be mindful of what is within the frame of view (background).
- Ask that the patient to use headphones (when possible) or to lower the volume.
The process is as follows:
- Maintain and charge the iPad at the nurses station.
- Inform patient and family of virtual visitations & the unit number to call.
- HUC or other clinical staff will receive the request for virtual visit. They will arrange the call by obtaining the visitor’s name, number, and what type of device they are using.
- Staff will request that patients limit the calls to 10 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, HUC or other clinical staff will retrieve the iPad, clean the iPad with Sani Cloth (purple top) wipes, and clear call history on the device.
