Kaweah Health’s Empowerment for Better Living Program offers chronic
disease self-management education workshops that are designed to help
adults living with ongoing physical and/or mental health conditions and
caregivers understand how healthier choices can improve quality of life,
boost self-confidence, and inspire positive lifestyle changes.
The program consists of three different self-management workshops: chronic disease, diabetes, and chronic pain management. Workshop participants will find supportive facilitators to help them get through their daily activities and manage physical and mental health wellness. Past participants have found that the support and tools they received helped them make healthier choices to improve their health and lead fuller lives.

Healthy Living:
Chronic Disease Workshops offers practical everyday skills like problem solving, healthy eating and relaxation techniques that help those living with chronic conditions. This online workshop consists of 2-1/2 hour sessions, once per week, for six weeks. All you’ll need is internet and a connected device to participate.

Diabetes Workshops are designed for adults living with pre-diabetes, type-2 diabetes, and caregivers. If you or someone you care for has diabetes, you know it can feel like it’s taking over your life but here are things you can do to feel better and take control of your health! This online workshop has 2-1/2 hours sessions, once per week for 6 weeks. All you’ll need is internet and a connected device to participate. Special emphasis will be placed on monitoring, identifying symptoms of hypoglycemia, preventing complications, foot care and menu planning.
Chronic Pain Workshops are for adults living with chronic pain. If you or someone you love is dealing with ongoing pain, this workshop is for you. Participants will learn about the differences between acute and chronic pain, how to pace activity, prioritize rest, and balance life. Workshop participants report less pain, more energy, and improved independence. This is an online workshop of 2 -1/2 hour sessions, once per week for 6 weeks. All you’ll need is internet and a connected device to participate.

Telephonic Tool Kit
Don’t have access to a computer, device or internet? You can participate using only your phone. Participants receive a mailed tool kit that walks them through information about better managing their health and participate in small group phone calls for 45 minutes once per week, for 6 weeks. All you’ll need to participate is a phone. All three workshops - Chronic Disease Management, Diabetes, and Pain - are available by phone.

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls
Learn to prevent falls by strengthening your body and mind
Just because you have arthritis doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the many benefits of gentle Tai Chi exercise. Join this workshop of 20 one‐hour sessions and you’ll learn:
- One or two Tai Chi movements per session
- All six core basic movements in the Tai Chi Sun Style
- Arthritis‐friendly movements modified for mobility
- Relaxing breathing techniques
- Tai Chi principles that build balance of mind and body
