Basic Requirements

All researchers and staff listed on new IRB applications are required to document completion of Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative basic human subject’s protection training and provide the date the training was completed. Researchers and staff listed on new IRB applications must have successfully completed either the basic or refresher course within the last three years.

Instructions for Researchers (CITI & HIPAA Training)

CITI Training

Step 1. Go to www.citiprogram.org

Step 2. Click on "New Users: Register Here"

Step 3. Sign up by filling out form - The participating institution is Kaweah Health

Step 4. You can use a work or personal email address to sign up, just make sure it is one that you check regularly.

Step 5. Sign up for the course titled: "Biomedical Research - Basic/Refresher"

Step 6. The course should take about 2-4 hours.

HIPAA Training

Step 1. Go to MyNetLearning

Step 2. Follow instructions to log-in

Step 3. Go to the “Enroll in CBL” Section

Step 4. Search for and Self-Enroll in “HIPAA for Researchers”

Step 5. Save Completion Certificate upon completion of course

Step 6. Send your Completion Certificate to the IRB Coordinator for documentation of completion
